Life In Cyprus

The main language in Cyprus is Greek, however English is widely spoken due to its history with British connections and tourism.  Getting around is easy by car.  We drive on the left side of the road and all direction signs, shopping centres and restaurants advertise in English along with Greek.

The climate here is fantastic.  Mild springs, warm summers and short winters.  During winter months, it's possible to be swimming in the sea in the morning and skiing in the Troodos hills during the afternoon.

Education

If you are planning to live permanently in Cyprus and have children or wish to return to full or part time education, you will learn that the education system is widely varied, offering state and private primary, secondary, colleges, universities and educational institutes.  Teaching is available in some areas in languages such as English, French and German.

Cost of Living / Healthcare

In Cyprus the cost of living is low compared to other European countries and high standards to be expected.  The island joined the euro currency in 2008.  To give you an idea, a couple would expect to in comfort with an earning of 1,200 euros/month.  This is due to the laid back mediterranean lifestyle one can expect.

Healthcare in Cyprus is excellent with medical centres and hospitals, all meeting European standards.  For all UK visitors/residents who carry a medical card, they will be entitled to the same care as a Cypriot resident.
